Ann, single handedly, started a Rosen Bodywork and Movement program in Pennsylvania and it takes place on the lovely grounds of Marywood\u00a0University in Scranton. Students came from the Scranton area, Colorado, New York State, and Virginia. This time we had reason to celebrate the first graduate of the Movement program: Priscilla Varland. She taught an excellent class, and is obviously on top of the many intricacies of teaching Rosen Movement.<\/p>\n
As always, Kate was an inspiring teacher, incorporating the Bodywork in the Movement with special segments of diaphragm movements, bringing in background research with related video\u2019s about breathing the diaphragm. She even coined the expression \u201c The Rosen effect\u201d, which happens when the ease and fun of the movement matches your inner rhythm, and flow happens!<\/p>\n
Our students were especially appreciative of the safe container that Kate and Ann had provided and expressed that in numerous ways, one of this the poem that Kathryn Foley wrote for us:<\/p>\n
-The Door-<\/p>\n
We arrive at the school,<\/p>\n
some have\u00a0been there before.<\/p>\n
We leave busy lives<\/p>\n
outside the Door<\/p>\n
Bag and baggage<\/p>\n
Mats, music, and more.<\/p>\n
Time to settle down<\/p>\n
and shut the Door<\/p>\n
What is your name?<\/p>\n
Have you been here before?<\/p>\n
You will love this intensive,<\/p>\n
Just inside the Door<\/p>\n
We have Kate and now Jetta,<\/p>\n
could we ask for more.<\/p>\n
There is a group down the hall,<\/p>\n
should we lock the Door?<\/p>\n
Our music is started,<\/p>\n
We move around the floor<\/p>\n
All laughing and dancing,<\/p>\n
Behind the locked Door<\/p>\n
Its\u2019 time for a break now,<\/p>\n
We\u2019ll come back for more.<\/p>\n
After cheese crackers and fruit,<\/p>\n
We gather again, behind the Door<\/p>\n
The days all slide by now,<\/p>\n
like never before.<\/p>\n
And soon we must go back,<\/p>\n
outside the Door.<\/p>\n
To lives we are used to,<\/p>\n
With riches galore,<\/p>\n
From that which we gathered,<\/p>\n
behind the locked door.<\/p>\n
So thank you, to Ann,<\/p>\n
For the room and the floor,<\/p>\n
but most of all,<\/p>\n
for the safe Door<\/p>\n
